I was nominated by the Government of the Northern Territory, to be awarded the most coveted Centenary Medal by the Governor General, in view my social service in the NT and in Melbourne. Above all, the government recognized my work for the REDCROSS, the NT Cancer Council and my services towards the welfare of migrants and refugees. The NT government officials had attended the many multicultural concerts through which I had raised a lot of money for these causes.
On the 10th of June 2003, at a beautiful ceremony organized in the Chambers of the Roebourne Shire, in the Pilbara of Western Australia, the Federal MLA for Pilbara Mr. Barry Haase who represents 91% of Western Australia, presented me with the Centenary medal and the certificate. It was a most memorable moment for us all.
